The Eastern Bluebird is a very attractively colored thrush that is considerably widespread throughout its range in North America. Since more nature groups and individuals have started putting up nest boxes that these birds can use (they are cavity nesters) the population has risen substansially.
I saw these bluebirds hanging around a lake. One was a brightly colored male; the other was a female. They were foraging in the sand of the volleyball court, which I wasn't expecting them to do.
